The Space
Our coworking space is the keystone of our community. Here, you’ll find teams collaborating into the wee hours of the night. We have workspace, whiteboards, and tools for projects, as well as lounge area for food and fun.
Only members have swipe access, but everyone is welcome to work in the space so long as members are present.
Community
The Shell is a tight-knit family. We host community dinners twice a month and numerous other member-only events like retreats, hack days, and office hours. At the end of each semester, all members participate in a public Demo Day where we invite friends, family, community leaders, and investors to learn more about our members’ startups.
Resources
All members receive 24/7 swipe access to a sweet coworking space, along with meeting space in our conference room. Members have full access TAP’s Rapid Prototyping Lab with over $1 million worth of equipment, access to resources with Namecheap, DigitalOcean, and AWS, and subscriptions to various educational web products. Receive free legal consultations and discounts on incorporation, patents, and trademarks. We have personal storage space for you, as well as unlimited virtual storage space in Dropbox.
Events
In addition to exclusive member-only events, we host numerous events open to the public. Most of our events are also livestreamed and recorded for those who cannot attend.
History
Startup Shell began in 2012 when a few students decided to clear out a storage room on campus to work on their projects. The Shell organically grew from this group of friends to a space where entrepreneurs and hackers from across campus came to build their ventures. Fast forward to 2016, and we have 150+ current members and 100+ alumni with over 70 startups that have passed through the space.
